Kemal Sayar was born in 1966, and graduated from medical school in Hacettepe in 1989. He continued his specialized education in psychiatry at Hacettep Medical School between 1989 and 1995. In 2000, Sayar gained his PhD in psychiatry. He taught at the Black Sea Technical University Medical School from 2000 to 2004 and has also worked as a consultant for various national and international psychiatric magazines. Sayar also worked as a guest professor in the department of Transcultural Psychiatry at MacGill University, Canada. Since 2004, Kemal Sayar has been working as the Chief of Clinic at one of the most long-established mental-health institutes in Turkey.
