Ahmet Günbay was born in Tokat in 1941. In 1970, his debut novel Çiçekler Susayınca was published in the Yeni Asya newspaper. In 1972, Yanık Bugdaylar was published in Milli Gazete newspaper, and thus became immensely popular. Günbay has had 29 works published so far, and his novels are especially popular with young people.
He is also the founder of Turkish Writers’ Association, and is a member of that board. Along with Hekimoglu Ismail he also founded Timas Publishing House in 1982.
