Son Of The Republic

Following his previous novel Minyeli Abdullah, Hekimoğlu İsmail’s revolutionary novel is now published. The Child of the Republic is the latest novel of Hekimoğlu İsmail in which he relates the modernisation process from the last period of the Ottoman Empire until after the Republic… The effects of the World War, the War of Freedom, the Republic and Reforms for people are told with a painfully realistic style and poignant scenes that depict the events experienced by young Yahya who was raised by his learned grandfather. All the disintegration, diffusion and break offs; pains, deaths, and hopes experienced during this process starting from 1914 till the 1940s… Yahya’s father dies in the World War. After having lost his grandfather, who influenced him and who inculcated in him a love for science, he is the only man in the family. But this does not prevent him being called to the front… Yahya is called and returns safe and sound from the front. The homeland has been saved from occupation…
